This study examines the impact of social media on adolescents in the digital era from the perspective of Islamic education. Through a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research involved six students of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta who have direct contact with social media, through the stages of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that social media has positive impacts, such as facilitating access to information, building personal branding, and increasing insight, including in Islamic values. However, it also brings negative impacts, such as addiction, spreading false information, cyberbullying, and the FoMO (Fear of Missing Out) phenomenon. In addition, social media platform algorithms often control news information or content to its users that can affect the understanding of users' moral and religious values, so digital literacy and wisdom in filtering social media content are needed. Social media literacy in the perspective of Islamic education acts as a moral filter to help adolescents use social media wisely. So that through it can minimize the negative impact and shape the character of the younger generation in accordance with Islamic values.
Muzawir Munawarsyah Dwi Ratnasari Muhammad Hafiun Abdullah Aziz ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-07-13 2025-07-13 23 2 342 352 10.24036/pakar.v23i2.697 Mauidhoh Hasanah Communication Model in Family-Based Adolescent Sexual Education http://pakar.pkm.unp.ac.id/index.php/pakar/article/view/791
The background of this study is the low effectiveness of communication between parents and adolescents related to sexual education, which is influenced by parents' limited knowledge and adolescents' discomfort with communicating related to sexual issues in the family. This research aims to offer a communication model of sexual education in the family based on Mauidhoh Hasanah as a solution to the communication barriers found in the field. The research used a qualitative approach with the descriptive-analytical method. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten parents who have teenagers (aged 17-20 years), observation of communication interactions in the family, as well as an open-ended questionnaire to forty-five teenagers of the same age via WhatsApp. This data was used to understand parents' experiences, family communication patterns, and adolescents' perspectives on sexual education. Secondary data was obtained from a literature review related to the challenges of family sexual education and the principle of Mauidhoh Hasanah, which was analyzed thematically to strengthen the research conceptual framework. Data analysis was carried out with the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing according to the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that sexual education communication in the family is often hampered by parents' limited knowledge and adolescents' discomfort with communicating related to sexual issues in the family. Mauidhoh Hasanah-based communication model that emphasizes gentleness, compassion, wisdom, and exemplary is offered as a conceptual solution to create a more open and effective dialogue atmosphere. However, this model is still conceptual and needs to be further tested so that it can be applied optimally in various family contexts.
Lia Awaliyah Encu Mulya Syamsul Ahmad Zacky Burhani ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-07-13 2025-07-13 23 2 353 366 10.24036/pakar.v23i2.791 Revisiting Indonesian Heritage in Elementary Education: Utilizing Critical Transformative Pedagogy to Foster Cultural Identity http://pakar.pkm.unp.ac.id/index.php/pakar/article/view/799
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of integrating cultural heritage into elementary education through a critical transformative pedagogical approach, focusing on strengthening students’ cultural identities. One way for students to understand the character values inherent in social skills is through a culturally responsive teaching approach. The concept of culturally responsive teaching can accommodate and nurture the character values of a social system. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of culturally responsive teaching in exploring community values and implementing them in elementary school students. The approach used in this study is a descriptive qualitative one, involving interviews with four teachers and observations conducted with students at SD Negeri Mulyoagung, which were analysed using a thematic approach. The results of this study indicate that the application of culturally responsive teaching in primary school learning enables both teachers and students to explore their surrounding culture and incorporate it into social values such as mutual assistance, mutual respect, tolerance, justice, equality, environmental responsibility, and joy. This is because, in its implementation, learning integrated with culturally responsive teaching enables students to interact more with their peers and environment and integrate various diversities into a harmonious whole.
Siti Herlina Ari Metalin Ika Puspita Hitta Alfi Muhimmah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-07-27 2025-07-27 23 2 561 577 10.24036/pakar.v23i2.806
